We are stationed in Baumholder and it's a cute little area that has been occupied by primarily military personnel since WWII. It is set high up in the Mountains and is a beautiful area! But I was able to go on a little tour around Baumholder to see what the are had to offer and also learn a little bit of the history on the area. Unfortunately I don't really remember a lot of the details, but I did take some pictures, which are more interesting anyway :)
This is called the corpse gate and yes it houses corpses! Children in that yellow school behind it still find bones in the school yard.
This is just a church right in the town that they decided to paint red
This is a watch tower that for some reason has taxidermy animals in it.
And this is a restaurant that has amazing food!!! It is over 250 years old and is so delicious!
This is in a surrounding area just some ruins to a castle or something.
View from that tall tower on the right above.

Willkomen in Deutschland!
Well we've made it to Germany! A couple of weeks ago actually, but I didn't really have anything exciting to write about yet. And really, I still don't. We haven't been out of the hotel (or the post) much because first off, we don't have a car and have been looking for a place to live and Vern has been busy with training. So far, we don't have anywhere to live, but we're constantly on the search for a place.
The homes here are absolutely amazing! I love them. I wish I could live in them all! It's not that there aren't any options for places to live, but we want to find the perfect place for us. We're being particular but we will be living in this home for the next few years so naturally we want it to be perfect! We've even considered buying a home out here, but we're waiting on that one for a bit. We'll come back to that in a few months. But for now, I think we are just going to rent. The homes are so old-fashioned, vintage, antiquated, and down right adorable. We went and looked at a place today that was built in the 1800's. You don't find many of those anymore in the states!
This is a castle we saw in Idar-Oberstein right by where we live. There's pretty much a Schloß (or castle) in every city out here.
This is a Church in Idar-Oberstein that was built right into the Mountain!! Pretty cool. We went inside to look around.
Looking over the city of Idar-Oberstein.
Eating döner kebap!!!! Mmmm Yummy!!
Definitely more to come and believe me they will get more exciting, especially once we get a car and can get out and about :)

Another Visit!
Vern was able to get a few days off to come visit. Yay! It was a very quick couple of days but I am at least grateful he got to come at all. And the only reason he was able to get time off was because his brother was in a very bad accident. So unfortunate for his brother, but it was the only way Vern was able to come out! We spent most of the weekend helping his brother out but it was a good time. I just wish it hadn't gone by so dang fast! But nonetheless, he is done with his training and I will be heading out there in just a couple days to finally re-unite! Woohoo it's about dang time!

My how time flies... When you're with the one you love most!
It's hard being a newly wed living thousands of miles away from your spouse. But we are in the army and are going to have to get used to it. So we make do and so far have only been able to see each other once in 3 months. I am in school so it can get really busy with no time off at all except for 2 days on a weekend. That gives me two travel days and no visiting time. (Plus it gets really expensive flying back and forth every other weekend, but it'd be worth every penny to see him :)!So for Spring Break this year I was able to go visit Vern and spend some time with him before he goes to Ranger School, otherwise I Wouldn't have seen him til end of Summer 7 months is just too long to go without seeing each other.. But anyway we had a lot of fun on my visit! He was able to get the weekend off from work. We went to Fort Walton and Destin Beaches to relax and get away, shop, and eat at marvelous restaurants! Destin is this really nice beach area on the very north western part of Florida not too far from Panama City and right in the Gulf of Mexico. The beaches were beautiful, the water blue, the skies were clear, the sun was bright, and the air was warm. And not to mention I Was spending these moments with the love of my life. It was Perfect!! I miss him terribly everyday and count down the moments til I will see him next (even though in the army, there really is no saying when that could be!)
Beautiful dozen roses he had waiting for me at the hotel when we arrived :)
On the boardwalk at Harborwalk Village, Destin, FL!
Pretty sunset on a dolphin boat cruise! Super romantic :)
Too much fun in the sun... I accidently fell asleep on the beach and got way burnt!
Needless to say we had an amazing time and I was so glad I got the chance to go spend some time with him!! Thank heaven for UVU who actually gets a Spring Break!

Well this is my first attempt at blogging. I'm sure I will get better at it as time goes by, so bare with me 'til then. I figured since we are moving to Germany soon and while Facebook is fine and dandy, blogs are a more intimate way to show what we will be up to and share our travel stories. With Facebook, all you can do is really post pictures with captions. Blogs are a way to share stories as well, without it being your status update. Plus, the people that actually care to read about our crazy life will be the one checking our blog. And I kinda like the idea of that better than just sharing it with the whole world. Oh, except I guess just anyone can look at blogs, can't they. But oh well! As long as they care :) So anyway I think I just talked myself into liking blogging! We'll see how it goes...
